The most active stocks of the day were the West- ern shares—Galena, Rock Island, Toledo, Iili- pois Central and the Michigan shares, all of which were from } to 1 per cent higher than yester- day. Panama and Pacific Mail were both better. The dividend on the former is only 6 per cent, which is less than was expected by many; bat the failure of the negotiation at Bogota is probably Inducing the company to be moderate in the division of profits. The demand for railroad bonds was very active, and prices were higher; the issues of the Michigan Southern were all higher. The new administration of this property appears to com- mand more confidence than the old one. There was no second board to-day. At the adjournment the market was strong. The exchanges at the Bank Clearing House this morning were $21,371,215 98, and the balances $1,523,128 07. The following dividends have been declared:— The Panama Railroad, asemi-annual dividend of six per cent, payable on the 2d of July—the transfer ‘books will be closed from the 25th of June to the morning of July 3; the Metropolitan Bank, a semi- annual dividend of four per cent, payable July 2; the Atlantic Bank, Brooklyn, a semi-annual dividend of five per cent, payable July 2. The business of the Sub-Treasury to-day was as - $120 503 115,000 ‘The Michigan Southern Company give notice that they will commence to pay the overdue coupons on the first morteages upon their road and branches on the 16th of July. The amountembezzled is said to be under $500. The amount for which Edwin Robinson, Presi- dent of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, is in defauit is said to range from $170,- 000 to $172,000.
