SECOND MEETING OF THE COMMISSIUN— PRESENT A- TION OF THE CHARGES. ‘The secomd meeting of the Board of Commissioners ap- pointed under a provision of the last Legislature to inves- tigate the affairs of the Central Park was held yesterday afternoon at $4 Exchange place—the chairman, Mr. J. McLeod Murphy, presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. Tho Secretary also read the cot which passed between the Chairman and the Centra! Commissioners, wherein the latter expressed their wa: ingnees to give eveny dacility to aid the investigation. The following is an enume ration of the charges; That the Commissioners have been guilty of dereliction of duty and. culpable disregard of the trusts imposed upon them, thessby cay an unnecessary aud extravagant expenditure of the public money. So far, however, these views have not been borne out by the result, The amount of specie actually held by the banks this morning was something under twenty two and a half millions, the shipments of Saturday not being counted in the average of Inst week. The next Furopean steamer from this port is the Africa for Liverpool on Wed- nesday morning. The exchange market opens with a downward tendency. The London money market continued easy, and consols rose on ‘afternoon of the 7th inst. to 954. Sales of Mlingig } Central shares were reported at$7 258, and of the construction bonds at #2]. There had also been transactions in Erie shares at 194, in New York Centrais at 72 a 74, and in New York Cenwal bonds at 93]. The Paris Bourse had been animated, and the rentes § per cent higher, but they fell off again on the 5th to 69f. 85, ‘The transactions of the day on the Stock Ex- change have been moderate. The weakness no- ticed at the close of business on Saturday was continued throughout the first session te-day, and lower points were touched for almost every stock. At the second board there was a reaction from the Jow prices of the morning, but the market was irregular at the close. The largest fluctna- tions of the day were in Michigan Central, which dropped to 46} at first board, under moderate sales, chiefly for cash. It rallied, however, in the afternoon, closing at 473 bid, against 49 at the close on Saturday. We hear of nothing new in relation to this stock beyond the difficulty with the Detroit and Milwaukee road. New York Central was comparatively steady, yielding only } per cent. Michigan Southern guaranteed and Har Jem preferred were also well supported, the forme touching 27 and the latter 383. They were both of- ferred at these figures, however, at the close. Ga- Jena was fairly active, declining at first board to 60}, but rallying later in the day to 603 bid. The falling off from last year on the second week’s traf- fic in June is $5,667. Rock Island declined to 673, but was higher in the afternoon, closing at 68 bid against 68} bid at the close on Saturday. The busi- ness in Illinois Central was small and the price de- clined only 3, which was fully recovered at second board. The earnings for the second week in June show an increase of $13,382 over those for the cor- responding week last year. Toledo was also inac- tive ata decline of j.
