The specie and bullion export shows a failing off of nearly six millions as compared with May, 1859, when the shipments were unveually large. The foreign exchange market is inactive. The principal business in ster” ling has been at 109j; in francs, 5.14] a 5 133. In the rates for money there is no improve. ment. We hear of call loans being made to-day in government and Sta'e stocks at four per cent. The AnhTreaanvy ie aboorbing but little specie: ©} The business of the dey was:—Receipts, $317, 871 02, of which $114,000 were for castome; payments, $287,579 11; leaving a balance of $6,637,155 82. The stock market was inactive to-day, and on nearly all the list the advance of yesterdey was lost. The chief exception to this was Pacific Mail which opened at 914, 830, advanced to 93, with sales of about 1,200 shares, and closes at 923 bid: against 91} bid at the close yesterday. A disposi- tion to purchase this stock is manifested by out- siders, as the opinion gains strength that the ope. rations of the lafe secretary will not result in any very serious loss to the company. Panama was | also well sustained, selling at 154 and 134j, with but trifling transactions, however. | In New York Central the business was amall, | the cash sales being only 800 shares. It opened | at 824, fell to 81}, and closed at 819 bid—a decline | of } per cent on yesterday's closing price. Erie ind fell offto 19% at the morn | ing, and to 194 at the afternoon session, the last named price being bid at the close. It closed yes- terday at 20j bid. Among the Western railway shares the largest decline was in Chicago, Bur- | lington and Quincy, which opened at 764—3 per cent lower than yesterday's price—and fell rapidly to 75, with moderate sales. We hear of no reason for this «ndden decline. The earnings of the road for May, which we give im detail below, show an increase of over $100,000 on those of May, 1859. Hndson River is 1 per centlower. There were sales at the first board at 48}, but it was offered at the close at 48, 47§ being the best bid. Galena was pretty well sustained, considering the falling off in the May receipts. It closed at 634 bid, against 63] “yesterday. Michigan Central ia 4 per cent lower; Illinois Central, }; Michi gan Southern guaranteed, 4; Toledo 4, and Rock Island j. For New Jersey Railroad, 136 wos bid, and for New Jersey Central, 118. Government and State stocks are firm. United States 5 per cent of 1874 coupon bonds were sold to-day at 104, and the 6 per cents of 1867 brought 110. There was also asale of Now York State 6 per cents, 1873, at111. Missouri ¢ per cents sold at 84}. Railroad bonds were generally well sustained New Jersey Central first mortgages sold at 105), Hudson convertibles at 84, do. third mortgage at 814, do. second mortgage at 103. La Crosse and Milwaukee land grant bonds dropped suddenly to 16} at the second board, with sales of $6,000. They sold yesterday afternoon at 19}. At the second board there was no important change in prices, and the market closed dull at the following quotations:—Virginias 99); Missouris, 844; Canton, 20}; Cumberland, 194; Pacific Mail, 02]; New York Central, si ¢, 194: Hudson River, 47j; Harlem preferred %; Reading, 41/; Michigan Central, 52); Southern guaranteed, Panama, 153); Illinois Central, 634; Galena, 6 Chicago, Burlington and Quinoy, 754.
