There is no euch demand for money, either among the merchants or among the brokers, as can main- tain an advance in the rate of interest, until we have shipped some millions of gold to Europe, and the banks cartafl their line of discounts very ma terially. The alarm oxpressed in certaja quarters at the advance in the rate of interest by the Bank of England has no basis whatever. That advance grew outof our increasing strength. Had we ship- ped es mach specie to Eugland this year as we did during the like periods of 1859 and 1858, money would now have been hardly worth four per ceat in London. We havekept the gold, and sent pro- visions and cotton instead—hbence the result. This surely should not be a subject of alarm and anxiety here. The Boston Post, in its weekly review o “Finance and Business,” says :— Darivg last week the monsy market exhibited even tn- creased case, bo far ag the accamulationa of individuals Were concerted. Day efter day the amoust of unem- ployed capital seems to increase; but, upon the other band, we think that the market, as represented or exhi- vited’by the barks and Gret class bankers, gives evidence that it bas passed tho minimum of prices. As you rates bave not sdvapced. Money is ap easy at & to 6 per cont asever, but for several weeks the bank specie has scarcely increased, and withia a fow days tho demand for New York fonds bas cerizinly bees much more active, whilo the suppiy, yet ample, te leas abundant than before. This very sight Changs, however, may result from tho equalizing process between New York aad Baston, for money has rulod lower {a State stroct than in Wail streat for strictly first clace time loans. At ali events, money is exoredingly duil and abundant with the capitalists, lond- ere and dealers of all sorta (hat usually employ their float- fog means without difficulty, and neither bore nor in Now Yore is evidence exhtoited of any consiierable change in money for some time to come.
