On the 14th of May the loans were $129,680 408, and from. that. date were week by week steadily contracted through June, July and August, until, en the 27th of August, thoy were reduced to $117,641,070— a reduction of over twelve millions of dollars, Since then the-banks have entered on another expansion, reach- ig to between $900,000 and $1,000,000 more, and the present tendency is to expand moderately until after Oc- Qober.
