The New Jewish Synagogue. ‘fhe ceremony of laying the corner stone of the new aypagogue on West Nineteenth street, near Fifth avenue, en Mouday, was one of more than usual interest, although Bere were comparatively but few persons present. At the soutbeast corner of the lot on which the edifice ts being erected a reading deak was placed, and a desk for the reporters, and on the unfinisned wall a banner bear- img Hebrew inscription; but on the arrival of the Rev. 3 J. Lyons, the minister of the congregation, they were removed, a} hie suggestion, on account of the heat of the gun, to the southwest corner, where the ceremonies com- menced by the reading of the Scriptures in Hebrow, fol- lowed by & psalm, sung by the whole congregation. After the psalm, which was sung in a very low voice, although the number of ladies present gave promise Of mere effort, a Hebrew prayer was delivered. ‘Tne Rev. A. Fiscuet, Ph.
