While they were walking about arm in arm, some citizen detected Williams in the act of pur- loining Mr. Hand's watch. The disinterested youth was brought to an account for his strange conduct, when be stoutly protested his innocence and begged ‘that his person should be immediately searched. Before any search could be made, however, he took to his heels and started off op a double quick trot, pursued by: the aforesaid citizen. When arrested the watch could not be discovered, but it was subsequently found on the side walk, quite close to the spot where the fellow was cap tured.
