rs ‘We National Worse Show at the Eclipse Course, L. 1. ‘The show ef horses at the Eclipse Course was continued Yewterday, it being the third day of the exhibition. The @ttendance of spectators was far greater than on the first ‘Wwe days, and ube array of horses finer and more numerous. “Whe weather, 400, was delightful, and greatly contributed to enbance the pleasure of the meeting. The organization of ‘We CommAtees on premiums was completed on Tuesday, ‘Sed they entered upon the performance of their duties yesterday by an examination of the stock offered fer com- petities. The cavalcade took place at the appointed hour, and was an imposing spectacle, comprising, as it ‘id, Home magnidoeat stallions and brood mares. Some of ‘We volts and dikes looked remarkably well, and their ano PT earance gave much hope for the future. There was a Wor representation of thoroughbred stallions, native and “imported, a few of them very fine horses. The trotting stallxms were more numerous, and 0! a superior lags, some of them as beautiful in appearance as they were swift of foot, and uncommonly wel! bred im some im stances. Some of de brood mares were of a eimilar de- weripbon 4s regards bleod and action, and of the right sert Qo warrant the presumption that through them, at least, ‘here will be ne deterioration of our noble and useful stock of trotting horses. Among the many distinguished persons who wore at the fair yesterday was John A. King, Governor of this State, who was in the judge’ stand the greater part of Lhe afterno: ‘The following \s a catalogue of the stallions, brood mares, wolts.and fillies, asthey appeared in the cavalcage, arranged ay to their respective classes for examination :— me STALLIONS—-CLASS NO. 1, Wm. Row in a Church in New Bedford. SATAN AMONG THE SAINTS—A FREE PIGUT—A NUM- BER OF THK SISTERS SERIOUSLY INJURED—CRACK- ED HEADS, BLACK EYES AND BLOODY NOSES. {From the New Bedford (Mass.) Mercury, Oct. 26.) A few days since we recorded a church difficulty in the Calvinist Baptist chureh, on Middle street. There was an- ter meeting on Monday evewing which greatly exceeded n confusion and all manner of noisy demonstrations t) previous one. ‘The drigin of the didliculty arose some five rsix months since between the pastor, Rev, Wm. .taok- on, and the trustees, a portion of the members charging he reverend gentleman with having appropriated to him elf, without their knowledge or consent, certain amounts of funds belonging to the chureh, which Uiey allege took lace about two years since, but have not until now rought the matter up for investigation. A council had previously been held, and it was voted that the charges wore a it foundation, and that the pastor be retained. The decision, however, was not satisfactory to the oppo site side, and last night being a business meeting, the friends and opponents met in “battle array,’ and a most tumultuous aud exciting meeting was held. As soon asthe members had all convened, one man arose from his seat, rushed to the secretary’s table and seized the records, and others proceeded to render hin aid, if any were required. The secretary tried w regain them, but was unable to do so. It now seemed as though all Bediam was let loose. Some were yelling at the top of their voices, some running one way and some another, and there was every indication or a general kuock down. The pastor endeavored to get into his possession one of the charch records, which so excited a Mrs. Nelson, that she seized hold of a cricket, and with upraised hand, and hair standing out like porcupine quills, attempted a’ vio. Jent assault upen him, which so Fighte ned him that he immediately took to his heels and was seen no more. A member, while talking rapidly and incoherently, was upon the point of emphasizing a “ big word,’ when his arm came in contact with a shaded lamp, breaking the glass, and seattering oil upon the “ new rig” of the secre tary, Mr. Dunlap. Several persons “fastened’’ to the secretary, while others came Uo his assistance. Blows were freely interchanged inside the church, an‘ ‘one woman, a Mrs. Castle pped”’ outside. Such expreseions put him dos ** he shall not stay,” “stand back,” “keep hands off of me,” “who are yor” “to the devil with ye,” with not unfrequent cries of “murder! murder!"’ were heard in a!) parts of the chareb. The members were wrought up to the highest pitch of anger and excitement. Neither party would listen for « moment to what the other would say, put each one seemed bound to carry the matter through on his “own hook.”’ ‘The noise attracted the attention of neighbors aud passers. by. dows were raised, and ‘what's the matter? was asked on all sides Finally it was deemed expedient to call in the police. Some of the parties got wind of it, and slowly but reluctantly left. The police came, but the “curtain”? was falling, and the last act in the drama was over. During the mélée an inoffensive irl was very seriously injured on her sides and abdomen. She stated to her at- tending physician that she received Ler bruises in attempt ing to screen Richard Johnson under a seat from the pelt ings of four burly, full sized pugiliste, one of whom had got bim, as the “faney’’ have it, in “chancery.” Wh: she was doing this she was pitched into by the wile Wm. Bush and her four enraged daughters. One of the persons most severely pummeled was James Rich. The minister, it appears by the statement of the girl, was cither frightened, or his Christian graces so much pe ed that he ran from the field of battle. The women screamed, shouted, stamped and gave vent to their feelings in such frantic Yells as to indnce our re porter to ask a member if any one of tho sisters had fainted to rhich a meek pious looking brother quietly “No, there is too much devil in them to faint. Werowrspay, Ovt, 27-6 P.M At length we are enabled to record a pause in the almott unexampled rise which bas been the feature of the stock market for the past fortnight. To-day a number of opera. tors, including one or two of the largest houses in the neluded to realize, and the market reacted ac cordingly. On former occasions, when stocks have moved npward, it has been usual for these pauses to oocur every three or four days; bat we have hardly had a pause in the steady advance since it began, over a fort night ago. There is no relaxation of the orders from out side. The aniform report from the commission brokers that their clients are gradually coming in as buyers, and that the sum total of each day's business exceeds tht of the last. AN experience shows, im fact, that the outside public proper will only bay stocks at the time the brokers want to sell them, and that the higher faney stocks go the more certain are they to find a market, It is also to be remarked that the partial reaction which will be noticed in to-day’ sto k List does not extend to State stocks, of many other secu ties in which the public are investing. Ina day or iw, when we hear of the reduction of the bank rate of rest in England, and of the further developement of sp: lation there, it must be expected that the ball will agan eset im motion here—though, for the present, a still f ther reaction would not be unnatural or unwhoiesome The volume of business transacted at the Stock Fx. change to-day was very large indeed. In the general market New York Ceutral was very active. Over 10,000 shares changed hands in the course of the day, the realization of holders causing a de. cline equal to 14 per cent as compared with yesterday's highest price. We are informed that large numbers of people are buying this stock for the dividend, as the safest way & making interest on their money during the winter. The September receipts had not come to band this morn ing; they will, of course, sbow a heavy decline as cow- peared with last year, bot it is said that the Cctober receipts will show an increase. The friends of the management are sanguine that before the present easy money market ends Central will ruleat par. Michigan Southern, common and guaranteed, was quieter today. The question of dividend on the latter will be settled early next ith, when it ie probable that the company will give the holders due bilis for the amount of their dividend. The creditors are generally very willing to accept the new bonds at $6 cents in exchange for their acceptances, and in @ few mouths the floating indebtedness will pro. bably be all funded.
