Laravery, In., June 11, 1368. ‘Tteommenced raining here at 12 o'clock on Wedsesday Boop, and poured down almost incessantly until this (Fri- uy) morning. The Wabash river rose with frightful ra- pidtty and the inbabitants on the river botthms awoke in the morning to find their homes filling with water, and were obliged to escape in boats and by swimming oa borees. The Wea and Wild Cat creeks, two small streams, Tose in afew hours to raging floods. The Toledo, Wabash and Weatern Railroad across the Wea creek was entirely ewept away, doing damage to the amount of $20,000. ‘Thore are two more bresks weat and not less than five culverts east, on the same read, are also gone. There are Desides three other serious breaks. ‘Tt is impossible to estimate the damage to the Wa- bash and Erie Canal. At Walcott the feeder for the level, four miles east, the look and dam and five hundred fect of the embapkment are gone. The State bridge is also gone, end there are seven breaks between here and there. There are also several large breake at Attica, Dauphia, Logansport and Wabash. It will be impossible to use the cana! agein this eummer. Particalars have vot come to hand, but it is known that heavy floods had occurred, aad some of the bridges bad been swept away. The bodies of the fireman and engineer were recovered last evening.
