The line then diverges to the couth side of the Morris Canal, leaving it at Port Colden, and crossing the Morristown and Faston Turnpike, passes out of the Mus- coneteong into Pohatcong Valley, reaching tho village of Washington, ten miles from Hackettstown. }t then follows the eastern side of the Pohatcong Valley, a distance of seven miles, and passing north of Stowarteville, the line crosees the intervening ridge into the valley of the !’ohat- cong, and follows that stream to the junction with the Deliware River Railroad, near Cooper and Mowott’s far- haces at Phillipsburg, making the entire distance 2354 miles from Hacketistowr, and requiring the use of 1); miles to the Delaware Kiver Railroad to complete a con- nection with the bridge crossing to Easton. At Wasbicg- ton it meets the Warren Railroad, by which a continuous route is furnished to the Water Gay, Scranton aud Great Bend. One route contemplates using one aad a third miles of the Delaware road. The cost of this route will ‘be $550,000. The other route is independent of the above road, and will cost $470,000.
