COMPTROLLER FLAGG’S ACCOUNTS: Mr Jouy J. Rexx called up the resolution appointing a commiitee to investigate the accounts of Comptroller Flagg. ‘The resolution was lost by a large vote. Anniversary of the St. David's Benevolent Boclety. ‘This Society celobrated ite anntversary Iast evening at the Metropolitan Hotel, and although the attendance was not quite so large as last year, yot with this excoption it was in every respect equal to ft, and the partial dim!- nution in numbers appeared to have no offict cn the spirit of the occasion. There were about one hundred and (ilty persons present, among whom were the Pres! dent of the New England Society, St. Patrick’s, St. George’s, and other benevolent associat ns. Dodworth’s Band enlivened the festivities, and the celebrated harp iat, Mir, Aptommas, performed some of bis best selecions on bis instrument. The principal feature in the celebra- tion was the music, as the Society very wisely camo to the conclusion tbat it would be preferred by the company to oratorical displays, The principal speech of tho evoning was tho President’s, and it was particularly eloquent, be cause it was on the subject of practical charity, and proved that the Weleh did expend their sympathy tn a more sub- stantial form than that of mere words.
