A very exoliing scene, which resulted im the arrest of @ leading member of the Exeoutive Committee formed by the late Vigilance Committee of Sam Frascieco, took Place on board the steamship Illinois yesterday after- noon ac she was preparing to take her departure for Oall- fornia. Tt appeare that Mr. Myers Truett, who was an active member of the San Francisco Vigilance Oommuttee, had, im bie capacity as ite representetive om the Executive Committee, endorsed all its acta and nigned many of its warrants for the expatriation and other more harsh moa- sures towards residents of that city. During this course of action, Obaries P. Duane, William Mulligan and Reuben Maloney ire inst year senienced to ex- lle, and forced to quit their homes from a fear of incurring the death punishment which was awarded by the Vigilance Committee, and sometimes enforced against recusants.
