An unprecedented quantity of rain fell during the time. Buildings were struck by lightning in ‘various towns. Several churches were also struck, but ‘without sesious camage. The Merrimac river, at Man cheater, rore eleven feet, and we bear of heavy damage to property in various parts of Now Hampshire. In ‘Wealtworth the damage is from ttteen to twenty thon- wapddciiars. Railroad travel is much impeded. Additional reports of the thunder shower of yesterday ‘and last night show that over forty buildings were struck ‘by lightz iny, including four Churches and s lighthouse on Plum Island, near Newburyport. One building only was ‘struck in Borton—a dwelling house on Joy street. Several pleagure boats in the lower harbor were struck, but the damage generally was tritling, and no lives were Jost.
