CONSOLS, 92 3-8, &e., &o., &o. ‘The royal mail steamship Asia, Captain Lott, which left Liverpoo! at half past eight o’clock morning o Saturday, May 3, arrived off Sandy Hook on Thureday evening. Her mails were delivered early yesterday morn- ing. During the previous evening the Asis got aground in the lower bay. The news is three days later than that received by the Atlantic, but presents no feature of decided importance. In the British Parliament the adjourned debate on Mr. Whiteside’s motion for a vote of censure on the govern- ment for the fall of Kars, had been pressed to a division, when the motion was lost by a majority of one huncred and twenty-seven egainst it. ‘The official report of the proceedings of the Peace Con- gress bad been published, but are little more than a re- production of the treaty and protocols already made kuown. It appears that the advance copy of the treaty of peace, whieh eventually appezred in the London News, was hawked about among the London press, but not one of those enterprising papers weuld pay for it she price de- manded—1 000 france, about $200. It is stated that two French divisions, and also Faglish troops, wi!! remsio some time at Constantinople after the evacuation of the Crimes, perhaps with a view to the re. pression of 3 rising agsinst the Christians. The Presse d’ Orien! announces that the majority of the inhabitants of Eupatoria are emigrating, through fear of beirg comp:omised, and similar movementa are taking place in Abasie and in Mingreia. A piivate letier from Constantinople, emanating from 4 rerpectab'e source, confirms the fast of Safet Effszdi, Mustacbar or Councillor to the Grand Vizir, being named Turkish Commissioner :o the Danubian Priacipadties. It is believed thet he takes with hia to Bucharest the firmans superseding the present Hoepodars, Prince Stirbey and Princs Glike. It is more than surmised that the Porte bur resolved to abregate the institu‘ion of the Hs pocars, as settled by the treaty of Balts Liman, and t> restore the ancient custom of nomination for life. Safet Effendi also tukes with him the firmans comvoking the divans, ad hoc, who are to ast in concert with the mixed Commission, in asceriainivg the wishes and requirements _ot the Moido- Wallachian population, and which will be ‘poodied ia the report to be addresse? to the Pienipo- ntiavies. The commisioner fur the French govern. ent will probably be Baron Tal'eyrand, formerly attaché ithe Freceh embasey at Madrid, the Mintater at Wiemar, te recently at Carlernbe. M. Baudin, Secr ts:y at London, was the person at fi -48 #tated some time ago that the Porte intended sp pointing » provisimal government in the Principalities until the new reterms are arrenged. Tae person to be placed at the head of this government will probably be Theodore Baiche, cr Constantine Negri. A letter from Berlin, in the Bourse Gazette, of Vienna, says :—Tha proposals made by Haglan4 to capitalise the Sound dver, snd to extinguish the capital by gradual payments, will not be accepted by Denmark, which has addrered a circular to tha: effest to its agents at the fore'gn cou:ts interested in the question. The States bor- dering on the Baltic have not yet replied to the proporals of England, The negotistions which had commence! at Copenhagen, and were interrupted im March last, will probably be resumed. A telegraphic @erpatch from Copenhagen, of the 27th of April, states that by an uvexpecte] turn the exclusive Danish party presented ia the sitting of the general Diet, on the 26th, by its organ, Bishop Mourad, s proposition tending to revise the common constitution throughout. ‘There was a commercial erisis at Brann, which is the ‘principal manufacturing town in Austria, and the credit of some houses is much shaken, Many of th$ Bruonmer- chants are concerned in the comstruc‘ion of # tramroad from thet: city to Rossitz, where there are excellent cral mines; but not having enflicien: capital to complete it, they have :aised money at 15, 18,. and even 20 per cent interest. One of the directors of the Credit Bank went to Brunn to see how things stood, and his report is said not to bave been favorabie. The minister who preached in the royal chapel at Charlottenburg, (when the 7+ Deum was chanted,) im- mediately upon the receipt of the news of the signature of peace at Paris, stated, that upon the same day, of the Aame month, in the same chapel, Frederick the Great had ordered a Te Dewm, in 1763, after the termination of the seven years’ war. It ts announced that the Prussian (naval) fleet of seven veesels ‘a preparing tc leave Dantzic ia a few days, It is 40 escort the young Prince Frederick Wiilism (the pre- sumptive heir to the throne of Prussia) to the coast of England. The sales of cotton in the Liverpool market during the week amounted to 42,000 bales, of which speculators took 7,000 and exporters 2,750 bales. The market was dull, and prices, on the lower qualities in particular, had declined, under the influence of the last advices from the United States. The decline was equal to about one- eighth of apenny per pound. The better grades were in moderate demand, and without material change from the quotations of the previous Friday.
