His Honor then inquired if the counsel on elther side had otion to make. SmRiKE ON THE SixrH AVENUE RaitRodD.—The Crivera employed on the Sixth Avenue Railroad have hada se rious difficulty with their employers. Heretofore they have been required to run six and seven trips per day, thres mea being allowed to two cars. By a new order the compsry require them to run eight trips, one man toacar. To this the drivers object, alleging that they Row work @.even and twelve hours per day, aad the new rule would compel them to work thirteen to fourteen hcurs, and allow no tice to take a proper meal, as they cannot lesve their cara but fur a moment with the one man arrangement. Last Monday, when the new o1der went into effest, they declined to go on the cars, and for a time travel was sua- pended. New hands were got, however, i iately, and no serious inconvenience resulted. Forty-four dri- vers are on the strike, a few only having submiited to the new rule. The strikers say the new drivers are un- if ensed, and that the Mayor has not done whst he pro. mired, in not orcering all those who are not qualified off the platform. The Superintendent says that fine new hor+es are to be put ou in place of the mules now used, aud the eight trips will require no mors time than the reven formerly did.
