MONEY MARKET. Tavrspay, Dec. 6—6 P. M. The upward tendency of prices noticed yesterday atter the receipt of the foreign news, still continues. At the ‘rst board to-day, Indiana §’s advance! % per cent; Il- Hnols Central Bonds, %; New York Centrat Eris Railroad, 1; Harlem Railroad, 2; Nicaragua Transt, %; ‘Reading Railroad, 3; Ctevelg>d and Toledo Railroad, %; ‘Michigan Southern Railroad, 3{; Galena and Chicago Railroad, 3. Pennsylvania Coal Company declined 1 per cent; Chicago and Rock Island Rafiroad, 3. The daily transections in Erie sum up between five and six thou- eand shares, principally on time, buyer's option. Reading is the next most active stock, and one that attracts a large class of speculators, Michigan Southern opened at 94 and closed at 9234 per cent, an advance of 2% per cent Zrom the lowest price of yesterday. Michigan Centra! @dvanced considerably on Jast sales. We learn that Capt ‘W. Bi. Switt, the final umpire between Geo. Matteson of Tlinois, and the Michigan Central Railroad Company, in the “cut off” raiiroad case, has decided in avor of the ‘Michigan Central Railroad Company. The smount in- ‘volved is about $160,000, This is probably the prinei- pal cause of the improvement in market price to- ay. Chicego and Rofk Island Railroad is selling at low points, It is a pretty safo ten per cent stock, and is better worth par than the New York Central is worth 80 per cent, It earns net on its capital double the Central, and isa new, growing line, while the latter is an old, bloated, diseased, worn out concern, ready to fall to pieces at any moment. For ac- ‘tual market value five years hence, we would rather have at this moment one share of Rock Island than two of New ‘York Central. Cleveland and Toledo was in moderate de- ‘mand to-day, at better prices. This company earned in November $91,228, against $77,921 for the same month ‘ast year. Nicaragua Transit was little more active to-day, ataslight improvement in prices. Speculators are trying to do something with this fancy; but thus far ‘they have not succeeded very well. We find on comparing the last two reports, about three hundred thousand dol- ‘ars ‘unaccounted for, and this, among other things, makes the action of the present board of management a matter of more serious importance than we at first imagined. -At the close of the report for the six qcuths ending July 1, 1854, we find an iten of 2,600 ‘shares of Transit stock on hand, represented to have cost ‘upwards of $70,000. In the last report net » word ap- pears about that stock. No one outside knows whether ‘tt has been #o!d, been stolen, or is on hand. This is only ‘one item.
