Sames (. Ruthertord, of the Nineteenth ward, and Alex. €. Morton, of the Second ward, were appointed secretaries, Ater the roll was called, A, C. Moxrox moved the appoiniment of a special comnalttee to report permanent officers. Yon B, Haskin opposed this motion—the present off cers were good enough for him. He moved ay an amend ment that they officiate permanently. This was carviot by a vote of 66 to 26, Avoverts Sem, thanked the convention for the honor done him. On the course that body took would depend the fale of the party. The State tieket was a good one, and would receive the hearty support of the national democracy. ‘That State platiorm disavowed ull connec tion with recret pocieties. (Applause.) When the de- mocratic party was united, it was broken up by a secret society—the Tammany Soclety—who drove them from Tam Hall. Mr. Schell opposed Maine Lvwism, and concluded by hoping that the ticket nominated might be sue as'to cominand suecess, Mr. 8. coneluded amid much applause r. Haict moved that after to-night no person be al lowed a# a substitute unless he was recommended by the other four delegates, as it was possible that sotts would creep in and control the convention. This, after some debate, was adopted.
