8 Liquor Question. . MSETING OF THE ANTI-PROHEBITORY MEN OF THE ‘TWENTY FIRST WARD. - Ag adjourned meeting of the Liquor dealers of the ‘Twnenty- first ward was held last evening, at the Masion House, corner of Thirty-second street and Fourth avenue. ‘Mr. Jas. Russell, chairman, called the meeting to order at 8 e’clock,when Mr. G. Bishop, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting, which were unanimously adopted. Ata former gathering in this ward, election district Committees were appointed fer the four districts, whose duty it is to callon all liquor dealers in their districts and invite them to join this eociety, and if they re- fuse, to report them to the society. M‘KREVSR'S AFFIDAVIT. ‘The Committee of the Board of Aldermen, of which Mr. Briggs is the Chairmen and the leading spint, met yesterday afternoon in the City Hall, and resumed:their investigations into the cbaracter and nativity of the Chief of Police. The first witness examined was Joho L, Cilley, who testified as followa-— Tam salesman in Teffts, Griswold & Kellogg's dry goods store, 145 Broadway; there was a trunk lost there by the firm, in August, 1853; I have a bill of goods which were packed in it; they were bought by Ezra f. Cone, of Albion, N. Y., the any before he left town, as he wished them to go with him; they were packe® about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, August 30, 1853; he had some silk goods sent to the store to be packed in the trunk, and afterwards to be left at the Franklin House; thoy were left there by a porter named Ceyle, who took the trunk in his cart; the trunk was marked E. T. Cone, Al- Dion, Orleans county, N.
