Houghton, broker, of Cedar street, upon E. L. Morrison, also broker, of No. 61 William street, was resumed yesterday before Justice Stuart, at the Jefferson Market Police Court, all parties being present and represented by counsel. Cross-examination of Wm. Morrison, continued.—Q Bave you ever loaned any money on G. R. Hoyt's checks which were dated ahead? Last night, soon after the fire got under full headway, our explosions, probably of powder, startled the specta: ors and filled the firemen with anxiety, but the latter emained steadily at their work. Two boys, caught stealing a trunk, were sent to the Crawford & Chamberlin rolled from their warchouse into the river 700 bbls of flour. A boom placed across the river caught the flour ag it floated down, and it was saved. The warehouse of this firm was fortunately nearly empty; a week since it contained $800,000 of mer- chandise. Capt. Robert Moore, who, at the time of the fire, was with his brig, the Alert, ‘at Madison Dock, forty-five miles east, distinetly saw the fire. This morning, the safes of Messrs. P. Anderson and J.
