Lappage, No 68 West Niveteenth street, and stealing therefrom plate to the vaiue of $30. It apjears from the evidence that on Friday af-ernoon, Margsret Cullen, a domestic in the house of the com: ant, heard @ noise in the front parlor of the sscond rory, and on calling out ‘who is there,’? Williamson, and another man not y«t arcesto!, ran outof this room into the ball, cown stairs, and e.caped by the front door. ‘The girl then geve the ularm, when her emp'over, with some of the neighbors, cried out “Stop thief,” and went in pursuit of the rascals. She alleges that the defendant came to her residence, No. 229 Kast Se- yenteenth sireet, and there forcibly attempted to have intercourse witb her, when ehe made loud cries for help, which so alarmed him that he decamped from the pre- mises. Judge Clarke committed the defendant to pelocn in default of $500 to ans ‘Williamsburg City Intelligence. Bop Roppery.—Yesterdsy afternoon two young men entered the grocery store of Mr. Benedict, corner of Becond and South Fourth streets, ana while one of them engaged the attention of the clerk the other roboel the money drawer of $14. Immediately after they left the clerk viscovered the theft, and arrested outside of the coor a young man from New York, who gave his pame a8 Ambrove Simmons, and who was locked up. Extensive Bustye-3 or Hoo Tumves.—Yesterday fore- noon, officers Cochen and Sherman, of the Firat ward Lice, arrested two men, named Michael Mitchell and john Fox, cha‘ged with stealing a number of hogs from Cornelius Noonan, [residing at the corner of sixth and South First streets The accuse parties were fouod in 1d woods in the town of Flatbush, about two ast of Fiatbush Hospital. In the centre of this wood about 3(0 hogs were found in an enclosure, to- her with a number of horses and cows in the vici- nity, sllof which are supposed to have been stolen. Mr. Nconan identified ten of the hogs as hisown. The ac- eused parties were taken before Justice Boswell, who committed them to the cells of the Second ward station house, refusing to admit them to bail. The swine, horses and cows will probably be placed in the Williams. burg pound, where they can be claimed by the owners. The Providence Journal states that the $2,458 which was stolen from Messrs. Corless, Nightingale & Co., bas deen recovered by officer Shaw, but it has not been made known by whom the thert was committed.
