FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL. MONEY MAREKBSBT. Faupay, June 30—6 P. M. ‘Meere was no change of consequence in the stock mar- bet to-day. The transactions were large and cash stock ‘Wap quite plenty. Buyers’ option appears to be the favo- site way of operating, both in the fancies andin the Gividend-paying securities. At the first board IBinois entra) bonds advanced 1 per cent; Delsware and Hud- pou, 1; Harlem, ; Hudson Railroad, 3{. Cleveland and ‘Boledo declined 3{ per cent; Michigan Central Railroad, 3é- All others closed at prices current at the close yes- ferday. Mincis Central bonds experienced the greatest improvement at the first board to-day, notwithstanding ‘whieh the sales were quite limited. It is about time a Beaction was realized in such investments. There is not @ better security in the market, and we believe it has been more depressed than many others of less substance @nd productiveness as investments. It is undoubtedly wafe to calculate upon having about touched bottom in ‘the stock market. There cannot be, under existing cir- @umstances, a much lower depth for fancies, and therefore the risk in purchasing caunot be very great. Purchases made at curren’ rates, would pay to hold, even M lower points should be realized. One could hardly go unis in taking hold of any of the leading fancy stocks om the list. The money market has softened slightly ‘within the past few days, in anticipation of a distribution ef a large amount of specie from the Sab-Trowsury. The éfiect of the anticipation will be about all, for the draw- fg of this money from the vaults of the Sub-Treasury, end sending it to Europe and other foreign ports, will tendrather to a greater stringency in money matters, - thas to greater case. It is possible that we may havea moderate and permanent looseaing of the screws on the money market immedistely after the Ist of July; the payment of dividends deciared for the six months endiag that day, will let free a large amount of funds whieh have been accumulating anc bave been locked up—with- drawn to an exient from the channels of commerce, After the adjournment of the boards the following stocks were sold at auction by Simeon Draper:— $1,000 Maysville and Tastegton Rallroe!, tat mort gnge, int. atded..... 26,000 Chicago and Mississippi Railrow eae. int. added “Bd mort shares Minnesota Copper ( ° 49 ‘Third Avenue Railrossi 47 he above on the usual terms—tea per evnt to-day, re- mainder to-morrow. The charter requires tast the compaay shall send annually to market 200,000 tons, which has not ouly Doom strictly complica with, but the quantity would have fax exceeded this amount had tho Chesapeake and Ohio Manal been in good order. The company forwarded to Baltimore and Alexandria 199,233 20.100 tona, and to Buaruberland, for consumption there, several hundred tons. 8 is too preposterous to suppose that the Legislature would direct a forfeiture of the compeny’s charter, acting ae it bas always done, with perfeet good faith, had it not gent to market more than a moiety of the required quan- ity. But, now that the canal and railroad are in sue. eessfaul working condition, the average of the company’s Business exceeds 7,500 tons per week. Assis ant TreasvREn’s STATEMENT.
