FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL. MARKET. Toxspax, June 27—6 P. M. ‘We have nothing particularly important to report in ' ‘the stock market to-day. Quotations were quite irregu- Jar and unsettied, and the transactions to about the usual extent. At the first board, New Jersey Zinc declined _ per cent; Michigan Central Railroad, %; Cumberland, 4; Marlem, 34; Cleveland and Toledo Railroad, 3. Florence and Keyport advanced % per cent; New York Central Railroad, 3; Resding Railroad, {. A large amount of Brie cash stoct was on the market to-day, and prices im- proved afraction. The repudiation of contracts by some of the heaviest purchasers fora rinw, haa not as yet had ‘ap unfavorable effect upon the market value of this stock. Only the parties immediately interested in these contracts are the sufferers, It may be very convenient to wipe out alarge amount of indebtedness by repudia- tion, when it would require a sum for their liquidation imeonvenient to raise, ducing o stringent money market; but it only shows what a alight foun- ation most of the time operations made in Wall street have to rest upon. It is not the custom for specu- lators in that region to drain all their resources for rais- ing’the means to keep their engagements. They generally walk out with a pretty good nest egg, and leave those who have bad too much confidence, to make the best of avbed barguin. The Erie Railroad has been the grave of ® great many fortunes, but those who have from the start had good pickings from the mumerous financial schemes which have from time to time been concocted by the management of the Erie Company, should not, when the tide turns strongly against them, leave the mizect and theic contracts to take careef themselves. Bueh things have often occurred before, and we have no @oudt will again. It undoubtedly is very pleasant to ro- evive dillcrences from others, bat when it comes to pay- ing them, it in a different matter altogether. Most ef the repuciat’on in Wall street ducing our experience has been by the bulls. So long as the difference is in their favor very good, but when itis aot so, they take themredves off, holding fast to what they hove got, In ether words, £0 long as it is for their interest to act hon- enatly and honestly, they do, and no longer; but when they do not, they must give Wall street a wide berth. The receipts at the office of the Assivtamt Treasurer at this port today, were $133,631; payments, $210,558 48 balance, $9,083,861 18. ‘the steamship Arabia, from this port for Liverpool to morrow, (Wednesday,) will take out about seven hundred thourand dollars in specie.
