Demiocratie (Soft Shell) Petmary Electtons. The democratic (soft shell) primary elections came off yesterday evening, between the hours of Gand 72. M., the resu’ts of which will be found below. In tho First ward thezo was a spirited contes’, more particularly over the charter committees than for either of the others Mr. John B. Holmes heading ono ticket as a candidate for Aldermza; but the other ticket, which ix as yot nn- pledged, wus elected by the overwhelming inajority of 361. These two returns for this ward, as will be seon below are headed the ‘People’s Ticket ; but, as the other poll held at the place appointed by the Tammany Hall Committee, we infer that it is-the legal one. Ca-account of sorag difference, the suppor‘ers of the *‘ Peoplaia Ticket”? held “heir election next door, running an opposition boat. However, it is for the soft skotl committee to ¢2cide which is the zeal Simon Pure. — « There was more enthusiasm the Loney ward in- among the soft shells than in the other wards. specters, however, were so-dilatory in counting up, that the feelings of their supporters could no longer be strained—so, in a burst of impatience, thoy. ferced o} the, door of the room where the inspectors wore busied in their duties, and thus put « temporary stoppage to the business, As it was lato, and there appeared to no be cer- tainty of the affair baing settled for somo, time, our re- porter left with the ticket as given below, the whole of suhich, however, is tho-return, with the oxcoption of the abarter officers; thom the inspectors had not declared, swben they were Ho unexpectedly disturbed. In the Ninth ward the numbers for oach ticket were 780 and 220, leaving for the successfu) ticket 560 majority, FIRST WARD. PEOPLE'S TICKET—PIERCK, SEYMOUR, AARCY, AND FOWLER, In conformity wth the call of the General Committee eh Tammany Hall, the people of the First ward assembled at No. 3 Washington stroct, to give their vo9s to the regular tickot, where they were refused tho use of the room by the TOP ae. tors, Two of tha inspectors being absent, Mr. Phelan remaining inspector, appointed twa others namely, Ed xard Dalton and Msrtin’Melgher, and, adjourned to Mr. l¢ane- street, where the people votedy with an’s, No. 9 Washington fhe following sesult — Holmes, ticket Chariick ticket FIRST W For the + 619 3 1c) JULALARY.
