PARLIAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS—THE TURKISH QUES- TION, ETO. ‘The business in Parliament has been of but local iate- rest, chiefly respecting the collection of church rates, &0n Fricsy night, the 28:h, questions were put to the government ip both houses, to ascertain the position of England with regard to the critical state of Turkish af- faire. Lord Clarendon, in the Lords, and Lord John Russell, in the Commons, ststed that the French and English representatives at Constantinople were acting in concert, and that the integrity of the Porte woula be maintained. The great race for the Derby came off on Wednesday, and waa won by West Australian, by a neck. The stakes amounted to £5,400, and the winner is owned by Mr Bowes, whose horse slso won the race last year. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. The Adolpbi theatre at Edinburg has been destroyed by fire. ‘The London Magdalena Steam Company expect to have three steamers on the river this fall. Sir Richard Comynz, the historian, is dead. The submarine telegraph has been successfully laid be- tween Port Patrick and Doneghade. The Dublin Exhibition attracts 5,000 visiters daily. The Queen will visit it shortly. F, W. Dispatches from Admiral Lespointes, dated Callao, April 10, state that he was about to rail with two more ships for Guayaquil river, to claim reparation from the Feuadorian government. WITHDRAWAL OF THE AUSTRIAN CHARGE, ETC. ‘The Austrian Charge des Affairs had notitied the Fade- ral Government that /ustria, convinced of the useless- ness of further negotiations with Switzerland, had ordered | him to withdraw. ‘The Swies envoy at Vienna, Mr. Stinger, is consequently recalled, and diplomatic relations are completely broken off. Turkey. ‘The Porte bad refused to accept the Turkish ultimatim, and Prince Menschikoff had embarked at Constantinople on board a Russian ship of war at Odessa. ‘The ambassador of France had erdered the French fleet to the Dardannelles, supposed with a view to prevont any attempt of Russia te seize or pass on the Strait, bat on the 20th the French squadron was still at Salamis. The Britirh fleet remained at Malta on the 18th, ewait- ing reinforcements from England. Despatches to the British Admiral Dundas stated that Menechikoff remained on board « steamer, and had given the Porte eight days longer to reconsider, threatening, if again resisted, he will finally withdraw. Commercial Affairs. THE LONDON MONEY MARKET, ETC. At London there was more demasd for money, and the current rate of discount for first class bills was three per cent Consols for money were 1005. For American se- curities the market was firm. Messrs. Baring Brothers qnote Maryland 6’s at 983g, and all other State and fede- ral stocks as per Arabia. The London markets generally were wholly unchanged. THE LIVERPOOL COTTON MARKET. The cotton market for the week ending oa the evening of the 27th, had been firm, with an upward tendency in prices. The steamship Daniel Webster, from San Juan, Nica- ragua, bas arrived at this port, bringing Sun Francisco dater to the 16th May. The D. Webster, connected with the steamship Sierra Nevada, made the trip through in twenty and a half days. ‘The Prometheus sailed from San Juan for New York on the Slst May, with four bundred and twenty passengers. The Daniel Webster left in port at San Juan, the U. S. sloop of war Albany and brig Indus, for New York. ‘The only San Froncisco papers received are those of the 16th of May; our despatche must therefore, of necessity, be very meagre. The papers, from the Ist to the 15th, are hourly expected by the steamship Phila‘elphis, from Aspinwall. The mining accounts are of a favorable character. During the stay at Niagara the entire com- pany enjoyed themselves with the utmost pleasantry, good humor and fellowship, visiting the different plac of interest ¢uring the day, and at night meeting ja a convivial circle at the International Hotel, where their pbyrical and intellectual enjoymenta were promoted to the highest degree by the polite attention ard unceasing care of the railroad committee indefatigably and generously carried out by their agent Mr. N. Ira S Watkins, of Chester, Vt., aged 30, and Ethan Clark, of Ovid, Seneca county, aged 29—were drowned about four o'clock on Ssturday afternoon, by the capsizing of a sailboat on the Mohawk river, the wind being very high end they unetilled ia navigation.
