As a point for the shipment of coal Alexandria cannot be surpassed, and it is rapidly rising in importance stuffs. Upon the whole, we have authority for the assertion that this road is deserving of the serious attention and active co aperation of the large coal inter- ests now located in this city, whose properties are situated in the region which it is intended to penetrate. The company will doubtless, however, be soon organized, and careful and thorough surveys mada of the whole route, when probability will give place to facts, aad the merits of the scheme be fairly tested. Meanwhile, we would advise all interested im the coal mines ef upyer ot to commit their faith or their means to other schemes, of which enough will no doub: be pressed upon their attention.
