E. Wool and J.C. Heartt. The bonds mature Ist April, 1864, and bear interest at the rate of 7 per cent per annum, payable lst April and lst October, at the Bank of Commerce, in New York. The Troy and Boston Railroad has now been for some months in successful operation between Troy, N. Y., and Bennington. Vermont, where it connects with the Western Vermont Railroad, affording, with it, the short- est and easiest practicable route from the Hudson river to Burlington and Montreal. Nearits northern terminus, it also connects with the Troy and Rutland and Rutland and Washington Railroads, and through these two chan- nels, and the Western Vermont Railroad, it draws a large part of the travel and business of Vermont. It runs through a rich agricultural and manufacturing district, which yields a large and increasing local traffic to the road, and the whole business since the opening has far surpassed the expectations of the Company. including the Troy and Bopnington Railroad, which is leased by the Troy and Boston, the whole length of the road is 823¢ miles. It has been built in the most thorough manner, and its equipment is in a state of perfection equalled by but few railroads in this country. It is now confidently believed that the Troy and Greenfield Company will succeed in tunnel- ling the Hooxic mountain. Should they do so, the main traffic from Boston to Albany and the West must go over the Troy and Boston road.
