There were large sales of Morris and Nicaragua. and our anticipations relative to these stocks are about being realized. There are a good many thorts in Nicaragua, and Morrie has been taken hold of by parties in Philhdelphia, who have had a fine harvest in Long Island, and have therefore the means to get up a pretty extensive combination. The county held $60,000, and advertised it for eale ‘at auction. Mr, Payne, Vise President of the Company, gave the commissioners notice not to sell, be- cause the railway company had endorsed the county ponds, which were issued to pay for it, snd guarantied the payment of them; and while these obligations are out the company will not consent to tramalee the stock, except to take up the endorsed bonds. The commissioners were advised by counsel that they had a right to sell, notwith- standing their bonds were out. At the time of sale, how- ‘ever, they proposed to sell in lots of $5,000, to be trans- ferred on the payment in county bonds at par. The commissioners reserved one bid for the eounty. Beveral persons denied the right of the seller, to change the conditions of sale, The advertisement was to sell for cash in lots of $5,000 or upwards, to suit purchasers. The conditions of sale, as changed, would prevent men from bidding who would wish to be safe. A Mr. Donaldson avowed his readiness to take the whole at $130 a share, cash.
