Up to this date, in the present month. three Wimndred have declared their prea sl and two hundred and fifty have received a pers. Nannow Escarr rnom Daowntxc—Susricious Cincum- stancrs.— At half past eleven o’clook, on Sunday night, msm named Thomas Hilland, resident in Brooklyn, fell a into the river at Peck slip, and ran much danger of being drowned, until he was rescued by the exertions of TLS Merrill, with Captain Leonard and officer Gumley, of the Second district police. After the recovery of Hil. land, bundle of clothes was found upon the steps at the edge of the water, and, upon cxamination, it was found to consist of a large sheet, ® towel, and a woman's chemise, which were saturated with blood. A light was yrocaiey: and Captain Leonard, with officer Gumley, round avd dragged the water in the dock; but ye ten o'clock yesterday morning, nothing was found pi eould throw light upon the matter. Free Atanm.—The alarm of fire noticed in our paper on Monday morning as occurring in the Sixth district upon last Sundsy night. was caused by the burning of a straw bed, at the corner of Ridge and Rivington streets. The officers of the Eleventh and Thirteenth wards attended, with some fire companies. The boys, who tollowed some of the engines, were near raising a fight after the fire was extinguirbed. Acctornt.—On the evening of the democratic proces- tion, and while waiting in the Park previous to its moving, Mr. T. B. Glover, marshal of the Eleventh Ward Pierceand King Association, was thrown violently from his horse, and quite badly bruised.
