OF TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS, IN THE HOUSE * OF RROWN BROTHERS & CO —INVESTIGATION BEFORE 1HE POLICE JUSTICE AT THE TOMBS, At one o'clock yesterday afternoon, a number of the venerable logking financiers of Wall street graced the antichamber of the Police Court, at the Tombs, for the purpoee of attending the investigation set down for that day, pending egainst Augustus G, M. Bowen and D. A Comstock, the former late cashier in the house of Browa Brothers & Co., and charged with embezzling over $220,000 ; and the latter said to be an accomplice, from the fact of having raised the said money on Joans at various times, without giving ample security. The two parties accused were in court, accompanied by their res- pective counsel, and the first called to the stand was Mr. Stewart Brown. one of the firm of Brown Brothers & Co.
