A private citizen, named Lafont, living in Ori- zaba. contracted # marriage according to the laws of his own country before the French Consul in Vere Cruy, for which offence he has beon arrested, tried, andgentenoed to four years imprisonment. The French Minister hes made strong representations, and demanded the liberation of Lafont, but has as yet been unable to obtain it. Another revolution’ broke out in Mazatian on the 11th ult, From the accounts given in the Siglo XIX..it ap- pears that Capt. Pedro Valdes. of the artillery, et the head of a body of troops. composed partly of regular soidiors, national guards and the people, attacked the troops af Culisoan who sustained the Governor of Sinaioa in the illegal contributions which he had exaoted from the mer- chants of Mazatlan. and after two hours fighting the lat- ter fled. leaving the Governor a prisoner in the hands of the insurgents. LHe was reieased the following day, how- ever after having disgorged the fine imposed by him upon commerce. and left Mazatlan the same sfterndon On arriving at Quelite, on the 12th, he issued a procla- mation. closing the port of BI n In thts document he charges the foreigners residing in Mazatlan with boing the sole movers and instigators in this rebellion against the con-tituted authorities, and asserts that it was got up tocnable the merchants to bring in their goods free of duty. and so defraud the national treasury, Strange to there were several persons killed and woundad in the A at rt fight On the 50th ult. the government recsived news by ex- traordinary express that a pronunctamento bad been made in Guadalajara, Nothing was said of the pian or object of the insurgents, All that is known is thet the people with about the National Guard had seized upon the government. The insurrection is ssid to be headed by a man named Davilla, chief of the Puros. ‘The movement of Rebolledo, im the State of Vera Cruz, has assumed an importance which we did not expect at our last advices, On entering Cordova he issued a procia- mation, invityng the people to join him and put down the odious alcabalas. His force is variously estimated at from three hundred to a thousand men, ‘Another report from Vera Cruz stated that he had submitted, but the Tyait d’ Union had no confidence in the rumor. It was said that he and the insurgents with him had all submitted and published their fidelity to the constitution. The Union thinks this promise not at ail inconsistent with his coa- tinued position. as what he had demanded was the modi- fication of the law regarding the alcabalas, the abolition of the law pereroune tis national guard, and the separation of the district of Orizaba from the State of Vera Cruz. So far from having disarmed Reboiledo, he was, at the last dates, near Jalapa, and going upon Coalepa, whore he bas numerous partizans. The Siglo of the 16th ult., says that a band of two hun dred Mexicans and Americans were at the Arroyo de Do- lores, on the righ; bank of the Rio Bravo, preparing to in- vade the State of New Leon. The Governor of the State had taken all the neceseary precautions to repel the in- vaders ; and having appealed to Gen. Jauregui, that offi cer had answered that althongh the officers and soldiers then in Monterey were suffering extreme misery, he would give thirty soldiers to unite with the National Guard, and march himself at their head.
