Speculation has not yet reached its culminating point, and the bulls have apparently as mueh confidence as when prices ranged ten per cent below current rates, ‘This is perhaps well enough for the time. At the first board Morris Canal advanced 34 per cent; Reading Rail- road 3g; all others closed about the same, The market is sustained entirely by Wall street influence, and nearly all the transactions are among the brokers. The inflation of United States Bank has been caused by the movements xeently made by foreign holders, and the efforts about being made to wind up the affairs of the institution. ‘There will be a mecting of the stockholders in Philadel- phia, on Friday, the 19th inst., to hear the report of the eominittee appointed to consider the policy of making a. general assignment of the astota of the bank. Mr. Schwab, of G1 William street, agent of the Dutch and English holders, will receive the proxies of parties in this country who will be unable to attend, but who are desirous that their interests should be properly protected. ‘The foreign holders, represented hy Mr. Schwab, are desirousof wind- ing up the affairs of the bank at once, and if there is anything left for the stockholders give it to them.
