Several broken heads on both vides were the consequence, but the most rictous of the i became, atter a while, so overpowered with liquor that they were easily secured, and either confined in the cage for the right, or taken tothe lock up. The most interesting” evgagement tock piace onthe art of Mr. Hitchins, alongside of which the versel lay, and on which abundant implements fora skirmish were to be found. A lot of the Irisb, whom it was attempted to capture and pet on board the ship, took post on the coul heaps, from which they showered down huge lumps of ‘coal on all aronnd, and it was with the greatest diffict they were eventually captured, ‘Two subalt: Officers attached tothe force-—one of them, we leara, Lieutenant Mason of the 4d infantry, and ano ther, Whose name We couldnot ascertain, behaved with great spirit and pluck on Me occasion; and it wax in a great measure through their exertions that the mea weregoton board.
