It begins now to be pretty clear that we shell, in Europe, close the year with a pe fo ong quan. tity of the raw material, as compared with the rate of cop-umption; so that, on every reconsideration of this important question, we are thrown back upon the con- elusion that the aggregate amouut of the coming crop will be the regulator of cur market. (From Willmer & Smith’s Liverpool Times of Nov. 15.) The improvement of the trade of the manu ‘acturi districts, noticed last weck as having happily supersed ded a very unsatistne tory state of matters. has increased in firmness during the present week; and even an advance of one-eighth of a penay per pound has bi mcst spinners, and maintained. With liber eclonial produce home dealers sparing puroh: and export orders are few. Prices for most articles still nue to give way. Sugar is much depressed. Coffee, Oo tea and spices continue to be affected. Kice, however, has been active, and has advanced in rice. The weckly review of the produce markets of Rot- -rdam, Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Autwerp, represent ne ofthe various articles as without matcrialalteration. ittle demand existed for coffee, but quotations on the average were maintained. In sugar, rice, and spices, the business was only for immediate consumption. The English money market, sinee Friday last, has been of a most healthy character. The plentifulness of money has raised the price of the funds considerably. Each dey since our last publication the market has progressed pd ye until this afternoon, when a check was received, the market = at a smali decline. The one 5 ‘clock opening prices at the Paris Bourse were received through ‘the the submarine telegraph, and posted in the Btoek Exchange at twenty minutes to three. re is not much alteration io our foreign exchanges. The fol- lowing are the latest quotations: —Amsterdam, 11 101¢ to x; do, sight; 11 17; Hamburg, 13 10%; to 13 10%: Pa- ris, 26 25; do. ‘sight, '25; Antwerp, 25° 3734 to 25 42; Frankfort, 120),, Leghorn, 30 7 to 30 50. The uj werd tendenc: of our cotton market noticed last wee has been still further manifested during the presen! the demand from the trade, up to the close ef Wednes. dey, was large, which holders, from the reasons alluded to in our last, supplied very sparingly, and buyers of the common and middie qualities of Amertean hadto pay an advance of fully one eighth of a penny per pound upon the rates current on Friday last. Since Wednesday, bowever, the demand has not den quite so extensive, aud the feeling of the market so buoyant, but prices are without the least change, holders being very firm at the full advanee of one elghth of a penny per pound then quoted. In feir to good fair American, f anil gro quo- table advance. the demand for these particular qua lities being very small. Brazil and Egyptian hate been in fair request, but are ‘unohanesa in price The stop which we last week reported as having appa- rently been put to the decline in prices in Manchester, has been succeeded in the precent week, not only by a further accession of firmness, but as far as yarns are concerned, by a general upward tendency. The a cal difference between the rates accepted a fortnight for mule and water warps, cops, and bundles. and thee which are now paid, may be stated at one eighth to one- querter penny per pound. The buyers naturally hesi tate, however, to pay such advance, and business appears, therefore, to be in some dey er restricted But the fact is, that the operations of the Inst few weeks have again pre- engaged the production so far ax to leave compar lively little at liberty for delivery within the next two or three weeks, otherwise the tranractions would be much more considerable On Tuesday, most of the spinners added about 2ne eighth penny per pound to the quota- tions which were current last week, and yesterday they ae as much firmness as on that day; but they prudent! y purrue the policy which has before served them so well under like circumstances, of selling freely where their terms can be realized. As regards goods, the makers stand firmly to their quotations; fut the demand is spiritiess and lagging. and no advance ean be obtained Domestics id Teloths are the articles most in request. ‘The iron makers are moderately anpplied with orders, but prices are remunerative. No change of import- ance is immediately expected. The death of Mr. Wilson, an extensive Beotch iropmester. has taken ra. withio the pest few days. Itisto be regretted, as he displayed muc! inenawe and energy in his operations. Freights continue bigh from this port, in American bottoms, for heavy freights. Yesterday was con- tinuation day, and the rates for carrying over stock to the next account were very much lower than of late Ehares were much firmer and left off at higher prices. ‘To day the market opened geod, but receded a little to- *ard noon, cloring beneath its best “weakish.” Daring the latter part of inst, and beginning of the present wel, considerable amount of business was transacted in the California Gold Mining Shares, at t high miums.
