ARRIVAL OF THE OHIO, VERY LATH AND INTERESTING FROM CUBA. The Excitement in Havana about the Threatened Invasion. ANOTHER SUPPLY OF GOLD DUST, The mail steamship Ohio, Capt. Schenck, arrived yesterday morning from New Orleans and Havana. The Ohio crossed the bar, at the Balize, at 44 P.M. on the 16th inst., and arrived at Havana at 4 P.M. om the 18th, making the passage in forty-seven houre and a half. ‘The steamer Falcon left Havana, for New Or- leans, on the 18th, and ¢he Georgia, for Chagres, on the 19th. The most intense excitement prevailed at Havana with regard to another invasion; and so confidently was it expected, that the troops, for the previous week, had been ordered to sleep on their arms, and be ready for marching at a moment’s warning. The vessels of war in port had beer ordered to be ready for action. It was currently reported, in Havana, and generally believed, that the cause o the detention of the Ohio, on her present trip from New Orleans to Havana, was to bring out an in- vasion, and 80 great was the excitement on her arrival, that hundreds of people were waiting on the Mole to catch a sight of the expected invaders; but, apparently, great was thoir disappointment, as she passed alvng, quiet a3 usual, to hor moor- ings, without the least demonstration of hostility towards the timid Habaneros. ‘The Ohio left Havana on the 19th. She brings 200 paseengers, and $600,000 in gold dust, and | $20,000 in specie, on freight. Annexed are the names of the passsngers by the Ohio :— FROM NEW ORLEANS. Copt. B. 0. Payne, J. H. Schenck was compelled to bury it at sen, on the 17th inst. Mr. Bryant was an acquaintance of Capt, 5. of many years stand- ing, and the captain very much regretted the ne- cessity of thus disposing of the remains of Mr. B. At bis funeral, the Epivcopal service for the burial of the dead was, as is usual in the absence of a clergy- man, reed by Capt and his friends may rést assured that nothing was wanting on his part to render the ceremony as respectful and impressive as the circumstances vould admit. Damage about $20,000. ‘The Diario de la Marina published, on the 15th nt, an article upon the aggression of the Northern upon the Southern States, abeut the law on the fugitive slaves. It refers to the resolutions taken by tho State of Ohio, and says that, in the most explicit terms, they ask the revocation of the law. The Diario speaks also of the recent case in Boston, and seca in those movements in the North an insult to the Southern States, to which Con- gress had conceded but little favor, while all had been done for the free States. The election of Director of Nicaragua had re sulted in the choice of Lureano Pineda, a distin- guished statesman, who represented the oivil party.
