MONEY MARKET. Tuvaspay, Feb. This has been the bluest kind of a day in Wall etreet, and we see no possibility of preventing a complete break down among the bulls. Most of the purchases are bythe bear# for delivery, and euch is the appre- hension that the receivers of stocks will not be able to fulfil their contracts, that parties having deliveries to make, dare not wait, s0 as to take advantage of any further depreciation in prices; but are getting their stocks in as fast as possible, and closing up their ac- coun This drives the bears into the market, and creates a demand for the fancies, which would not otherwise exitt The bulis have wade s great deal of money within the past twelve months, but they dis- like very much to disgorge any of their profits. The bears are, therefore, afraid of them, and where no de- posite are made on time contracts, there is founds- tion fer Bo far, the bulls have met their losses promptly, but we know not how long they may have the ability or the dispositien todo so. During the past twelve months the bears have met with heavy losses, and eral of the otroi houses in the street have had their capital largely reduced. Every loss has been punctually paid, d contracts honorably fulfilled, amd it is exceedingly hard that they should be forced to make premature deliveries of stooks on time sales, in cousequence of the existence of well grounded deubdts relative to the ability of purchasers te take stocks purehased at prices much above our- rent quotations. This state of things benefits the bulls, while it.is calculated to injure the bears. It sus- tains prices to a great extent, and pr: more ra- pid depreciation tham has thus far been realized ‘This is all very fortunate for holders of tancy stocks, but by no means creditable to bull speculators gene- rally. The bears, however, are now in the ascendancy, and have a prospect of not only making good all thei losses, but of realizing la profits. Notwithstand. ing the great decline in prices, the probability is that they will yet reach a lower depth. The fancies are floating about the street. and have literally no resting- Where and when they will settle down, no however great his experience, can tell. The market is feverish, and it is impossible to tell what day may bring forth. A fall of two, three, and four per cent a day in all the leading fancies, cannot con- tinue long without ruining hundre the result of the panic which has seized the minds of holders, no one can predict. No one appears to have nerve enough to purchase at present prices, for invertment or for speculation. Of the hundreds who were #0 anxious to buy at prices ten, fifteen, and twenty per cent above those now cur- Tent, not an individual is tobe seen in the market, and there is full as much anxiety to sell, as there ex- isted six weeks since to buy. The difficulty at present ia, that allare eel!ers, and am immense quantity of fancy stocks is presting upon the market. This revolution ¥e predicted, and those who have been governed by our advice, have no cause to complain. At the first board to-day, Eris Income Bonds declined Erie Bonds, new, %; Canton Company, Loan, 34; Long Island, 3 ; Stonington, 4; Reading Railroad, 144; Erie Railroad, 3; Harlem, 134. At the second board Farmers’ Loan fell off 4 per cent; Long Island, \; Norwich and Worcester, 3. Reading Railroad advaneed 1 per cont; Harlem, 1‘; Portsmouth Dry Doek, Most of the transactions ‘were for cash, and were confined almost entirely to the three leading railroad fancies. There were sales of Canton, aiter the second board, at 66. The flactua- tions in this stock have been sufficient to open the eyes of outsiders to the dangers of speculating in ancy el sof any kind. They show that it isim- possible to succeed in any cornering combination, and affords another iljustration of the folly of attempting to control any particular stock. The movements in Brie, during the past few weeks, have turned out just aswe soticipated. The party engaged in cornering that stock, was probably stronger than any ever form- ed im this market for such a purpose, and the result is known. ‘The arg t upon the application to the Chancel- lor of New Jersey, for an injunction upon the Morris Canal Company, will be made on Saturday, the 8th inst. There is very little doubt but that the injunc” tion will be granted, and the company compelled to e@onsolidate the old stock at once. There is no way of avoiding it, There is the law, and it is the duty of thy Chancellor to restrain all incorporated companies, in any illegal administration of their affairs. The mana- gers of the Morris Canal Company, in permitting trans- fers of the old stock, make themselves liable, notwith- standing which they continue to do so with impunity. Until this question is disposed of, it would be well ough to let the stock alone. The first effect of con- eolidating « stock is to depress it. ‘The receipts at the office of the Assistant Treasurer of this port, to-day, amounted to $46,030; payments, $9,251 19; balance, $4 540,186 98, ‘The fifth annual report of the Macon and Western Bailroad Company gives a very satisfactory account of the business for the year ending Nov. 30,1850. It appears that the road has been managed with great care and success. The gross earnings for the year emount to $208,606 13, and its expenses to $108,234 69 —leaving its net profits $100.481 44, an amount equal to 16 percent on the present capital of the company, which is $686,060; and equal to 10 per centon one million and eighteen thousand five hundred dollars, the amount to which the capital is soon to be in- ereased, This statement of fects must be most gratify- ingto the stockholders, especially wh: by ® com- parison of the business of 1860, with that ct 1849, the following resulte appear, vic: increase from pas- sengers, $26,026 20, decrease in freights, $15,763 96, showing « total increase of $9,861 24. The decrease in freights was in the downward trips. was wholly to be attributed to the deficiency in the crops of both corn and cotton. This fact is fully demonstrated, when it is shown that the falling off in the receipts of the latter article on the road, amounted to 12,742 bales; and the decrease im grain and flour isin much greater proportion. The Albany and Schenectady Railroad Company have just completed its last ual report.
