Wasnixoron, Deo. 16, 1850. Commodore Stewart is appointed president of the court martial for the trial of Commodore Jones. The charges against Commodore Jones are, that he used the fumds of the Pacific squadron to speculate in gold dust, and that he unlawfully humg two men on board ofaship, in California. By request of the acoused, the charges were not read to-day, as he desires a reply "to go with the accusations. They will be read to-mor- row. A young offieer, who suffered punishment under ‘Commodore Jones in California, is, we learn, his prin- eipal accuser. The acceptance, by Texas, of Pearce’s Boundary ‘Dill, has been officially received by the President, from Governor Bell, and will be communicated to Congress, today. A Governor and other officers for New Mexico ‘will, therefore, be nominated to the Senate during this “week. Jenny Lind arrived last night, and is stopping at ‘Willard’s Hotel. She visited the White House to-day, and also the Supreme Court, where she heard an argu- ment from Mr. Clay. The committee rose, and the House adjourned. Highly Important from South Careiina— $300,000 for Military Purposes. Corumara, 8. C., Deo. 15, 1850. The Senate of South Carolina has parsed a bill for a convention, and giving three hundred thousand dol- lars to be epplied to military purposes. Another Horrible Steamboat Explosien—A Great Number of Persons Killed, New Onceans, December 13, 1850. While the tow boat Anglo Norman was on a pleasure excursion up the river, her boiler burst, and we have ‘# fearful loss of life to record, Over one hundred of our most respectable citizens, and several ladies, were on board. Junius Beebe, late Pr sident of the Tow Boat Company, is missing, C. Perry, reporter of the Bulletin ; Alfred Stiliman, of the Novelty Works, New York; and the first engineer, were all killed, along with, it is supposed, fifteen otbers, whose names are as yet unknown. Many were severely sealded, and others slightly injured, including the reporters of the Delta and Crescent. Hudson River Navigation. Axeany, Deo. 16, 1850. The steamers Buffalo, Ellsworth, and American Eagle, the two latter with four tow-boats attached, foreed a passage through the ice and arrived here this morning.
