A few private operations were made at prices current at the close yesterday. The market will, therefore, without much doubt, open firm to-morrew morning, and for the remaining two days of the week we shall, probably, have a very active time among stock speculators. The news from Burope, by ‘the steamship America, is not unfavorable for holders ef our local stocks, but we eannot say ae much for those engeged im commercial transactions. It is im- possible to form an opinion, from the advices received ‘by this steamer, relative to the result of the move ments going on in the political affairs of the conti_ ment, and we shall look for later intelligence from the eld world with a great deal of anxiety. A general war im Burope is, by no means, among the imposeibilities. A few weeks will decide the questions at issue.
