Our Litenfiela 1 Corsespondence, Lircurieiy, Conn., Sept. 11, 1850. The Colebrook Murder—Trial of the Accused, and Verdict of the Jury—The Sentence. The trial of William Calhoun, Lorenzo T. Cobb and Henry Menasseth, an Indian, for the murder of Barnice White, of Celebrook, on the night of the 80th of March last, befote our Superior Court, Chief Justice Church and Associate Justice Storr presiding, is just concluded. The trial has occu- pied six days, one day and a half being consumed by conuse) in arguing the case; and was finally obmitied to the jury last evening. On the whole, it hes been one of the greatest and most interest- ing irisie ever had in this county. ‘he jury came in at a quarter pasteleven o'clock thie forenoon. The verdict was rendered amid the most profound silence. Wiluam Calhoun, in- dicted 6s principal, and Henry Menasseth, indicted as coyewnee t before the fect, were fonnd guilty of murder in the first degree. Lorenzo T. Cobb, in- dicted as accessory before the fact, was found not guilty. Neither of the accused manifested any particular emotion on the rendition of the verdict; they recenved i with the same composure that they have evinced during the progress of the trial. By order of the Court, Cobb was remanded to jail, to enewer a charge ‘of being accessory to the crime efter the fact. The prisoners will be sentenced before the rising of the Court.
