These statements @re obtained from those who are, apparently, conver- fant with the affairs of the concern, and we give them for what they are worth, for the benefit of those qmterested, and those who may have contemplated the stock. Independent of the divi- dend on this additional capital, there has been an imerease in the productiveness of the capital of other banks. The average per cent to be paid im April, 1650, will be about three and seven-eighths per cent; and, in October, 1849, it wase fraction less. The Market Bank appears to be as profitably conducted as the Suffclk, with all its uncurrent money business and deposits from country banks. It is a very curious fact that the new banks in Boston pay better dividends than the old. Numerous applications have been made to the Legislature of Massachusetts, by Boston capl- telists, furan increase in the banking capital of that city; and the probability is that several of the appli- cations will be granted.
