“ARRIVAL OF THE CRESCENT CITY. Very Late from Chagres aud Jamaica. NOTHING FROM GALIFORNIA, Bc., de., de. ‘The fine steamship Crescent City, Capt. Stoddard, ar- rived at this port early yesterday morning, from Chagres, whence she sailed on the 16th. aud Kingston, Jamaica, whenee she sailed om the 20th inet. Our edvices from Chagres are of the 16th; Panama of the Sth. and King-ten. Jamaica, 20th inst. We aleo advices rom the Mosyuito territory—they are not very late, but are somewhat interesting. ‘There is nothing later from California. ‘The steamship California was to leave Panama for fan Franeirco on the 20th, and would, take all the passengers th: t Panema. ‘The bark Elia Frances had sailed, with one hundred ‘and twebty-five passengers; the bark Anshuse was @ischarging. and would be put up for San Francisoo. There bad been but two rains in Panama in two weeks The weather was very plrasant, and the city perfectly healthy, the oholera having entirely disap- peared. ‘The steamer Alabame arrived at Chagres on the eve- ming of the 14th inst from New Orleans She went round and apcbored in Tucker's Bight, Navy Bay, on the morning of the 10th, and the steamer Orus took off her passengers, sixty-six in number ‘The captain had gone to Pavama, with the intention of awaiting the arrival of steamer Panama, expected about the 20th. There had been vo arrivals from the Southern coast of the Pacific. since the Empire City left. The price of pareage on the river Chagres is very much reduced, owing tothe steamboat General Herran having made @ successful trip to Gorgons. The Alabama's pas- sengers went up in canoes, some for four dollars, and none paying more than six dollars per head ‘The Hon Mr. Van Alen, United States Minister to | Ecuador, was at Gorgona on the 13th inst. en route to | Panama. He probably left the latter place em the 26th | Snst., in the British steamer, for Guayaquil, Our Panama Corresponden Panama. Saturday, Sept. 8, 1849.
