MONEY MARKET. Friday, June 29—6 P, M. ‘The stock market continues in a very unsettled state Quotations to-day wore feverish and fluctuating. There was, however, a slight improvement in some of the leading fanciés, but it can be but temporary. There is no spirit exhibited by speculators tora rise, and the bulls appear to have abandoned all hopes of any impor- tant advance. Fancy stocks have had their day—at all events, for s time; and those who have surplus eapi- tal, seek something more substantial for investment. All the statements which have emanated from different Sources within the past ten years, relative to the pro- ductivencgs of the different works of internal improve- ment, have prsved fallacious, and these stocks are much of the fancy order as ever they were; in fact, some of them were better, and worth more, five years ago, than theyare now. Our railroads bave increased more rapidly in cost than in earnings, and the capitals ‘of. many of them have reached such large smounts, * that the prospect of stockholders receiving any divi- dends out of the revenue, is puor indeed. At the first board to-day. Pennsylvania 5's fell off per cent; Erie Railroad, 3g. Morris Uanal advanced per cent; Portsmouth Dry Dock, \; Harlem, 3; and Hudson River Railroad, 1. The European news has bed no particular influence upon the markets vither wey. There had been an improvement in United States @sin London of about 3¢ per cunt, and advance in some descriptions of breadstuffs Cotten remained without any alteration, The accounts from the con- tinent are by no means calculated to give increased activity to business, but on the contrary, to depress it, id check returning confidence. Our Europesn trade for some time to come, must be rery much restricted’ end the effect of the political movements on the conti nent, upon prices for our great exporting staplos, can- mot but be most disastrous. Any demand for our atocks that may grow oat of the revolutions in Europe will be but « bagatelle, compared to the losses that will result from the derangement of trade and depreciation dm prices for our products. ‘The receipts at the office of the Assistant Treasurer ef this Bort, to-day, amounted to $131 46; payments $028,131 ST ; balance, $1,085,216 61. By anew lation which has been adopted at the Philedelphi mint, with the concurrence of the Socre- tary of the | ary, and which is to take effect on and after the 8)/st 1 July, gold eombined with silver will ‘y parted/at such rates as will yield an increased re’ ‘tarn V.dleporitors. Mas California gold, for example. will pey pbout & half of one yor gut more than herete- Jore, and the return upon prix dyabicous, Beehtlor's euing, add most of the gold of Nergh Caroline, will be gomew) ®t greator. ‘Thr’ sltered to twenties om the Patuam County Bank N. The weather continued fine, and the grain crops through- cut Epgland looked vigorous and promising, In the event of the harvests in Great Britain proving er age, the demand on our breadstuffs will not oxperience any important reduction, as the diffloulties on the oon- tinent are likely to coptinue, and the usual supply from the ports of the Baltic reduced. Independent of this, the state ef prices in our markets enables us to ship largely, with 8 prosprect of good returns; and durmg the season of navigation on our rivers and canals, we can, without doubt, compete successfully in the morkets of Great Britain, with any part of the continent, in the leading articles of breadstuifs, In- tan corn will always ficd extensive markets abroad at remunerating prices; and at the ra‘e of shipment this year, (without any unusual deficiency in the harvests of Europe.) it will rank the second in the list of staple exports from the United States.
