Halifax papers of the 251n state the corn crop in Nova Seotia is very light, and that the wheat 1s almost desirozed., The oat erp 18 not heavy, and the early potatoes are nearly all destroyed by the rot; the late crop, however, 1s in a much better condition. Much suflering is anticipated amongst t r settlers. Briush bark Shannon, seventy days from Bristol, for New York, witha cargo of iron, and ba: passengers, was spoken on the 26th instant, lat. lon. with loss sails, spars, &c. pis crew on a short allowance, and part of the passengers sick. Thry had been forced to burn their smal! boat, spars, and water casks, to cook their victuals. They were supplied with some pro- visions and water, by the Turkish brig Arrarat, which arnved here from Constantinople, said to be the first ever arrived. The whigs of Salem had a tremendous meet- ing last mignt, numbering some four thousand pera who were addressed by the Hon. Ru- us Choate and others. The meeting was en- livened by the burning of Bengola lights, ascension of rockets, and the illumination of the buildings. A cepgtion was present from Boston, and many other places. Western at $375 per bbl. There are more sellers than buyers. Sales of whiskey, in bbla., at 1644 a 16% cents per gallon. ‘There is no change to notice in grocer Sales of 1000 Western bums. canvassed, at 7 cents per pound. Linseed ofl sells at 52 a 53 cents per gallon. Pirtsaunc, Sept. 28—The flour market is heavy, and moderate sales have been effected at previous prices. ‘There is no change to notice in the grain mar- ket. The receipt of corn is small. There is more de- mand for provisions. There is a sligh: nee to no- tice in groceries. Supply of fish moderate. Cotton market quiet. There are 2 feet 4 inches water in the channel. Burrato, Sept, 29.—Roveipts within the past twenty- four hours.— Flour. 8,000 bbis.; wheat, 65,000 bushels ; corn, 12,0000. The market for flour was firmer. and prices had an upward tendency; sales reach 4,000 bbls. at $4 75, a $4 873g; in wheat, the salea add up 12,000 bushels at 50c. for Chicago, and 98e. for Ohi was steady, with sale of 15 000 bushels, to arrive a week or ten days, at 53 a Bic. Atnany, Sept. 29.—Keewrpts within the past twenty- four hours.—Flour, 9400 obls.; corn, 7,200 bushels. Flour continued firm with steady sales; the operations in corn were 2.500 bushels yellow, at 7330; of barley. there were rales of 6400 bushels at 75.276 a 77c ; in wheat no fales were reported, quotations remained firm. : The Hon. Wheat was also in some better request. and eales of Genesee were reported on some better terms, Owing to the instructions which ac- companied the orders that came out per Acadia, at Boston, requiring them to be filled before the America came (o hand. and most of them having been executed yesterday. there were, cousequently, few or no buyers to-day, and the price of corn receded about 4 or Se per bushel, at which moderate sales were made.
