The Defeat of Robert Dale Owen. Of all the changes in the late Western Congressional elections, the defeat of Robert Dale Owen was the least ‘and last to be feared or expected. It was thought among his friends here that the district and the tepresentative were united and indivisible, But bis defeat is accounted for. Judge Embree brought torward Mr. Owen’s infidel publications of years ago, when he labored in the same unprofitable and mistaken field of philanthropy with Fanny Wright ; and paraded other physiological doc- trines of Mr. Owen even more objectionable than the open war upon christianity.
