Ireland, in G. B. Bbls...50,670 162,8: 10,690 41,170 17,947 A comparison of hase amounts with the aggregate shipments given above, for the ten months ending July 1, will chow that @ very large per cent was exported in June. The shipments of wheat in June were also very large, and comprise a very large proportion of the ag- gregate for the ten months ending the Ist inst. As the season advances, and prices declipe, there seems to be Greater anxiety exhibited to get forward supplies, and there is every prospect of the shipments for this month being equal to those of last. The commercial year ending September 1, 1847, will soon close, but the few weeks loft will swell the aggregate exportation very largely. Woe have no doubt the shipments of bread- stuffs from this country to Great Britain and Ireland, for tho year, will amount ‘to more than fifty million bush- ¢ of grain, at an average price of at least one dollar and a half @ bushel, making an aggregate value of seventy-five millions of dollars. This estimate, which is certainly within limits, exceeds any thing dreamed of by the most sanguine free trade advocate in the country. It must be recollected that the above is merely bread- stuffs exported to Great Britain and Ireland. Ship- ments fo other places have been larger than usual, but it {a impossible to form any estimate of the probable or comparative extent of these shipments. Suffiqeit to say, that the official returns will astonish us all, and-give those speoulators who have made themselves so ridiou- Jousin endeavoring to show that there was a deficiency of breadstuffs for our domestic consumption, an insight sato the resources of this country, which we trust will be of some service to them hereafter. Our calculations relative te the probable surplus of breadstuffs in the United States at the close of last harvest, which were considered by many rather extrava- gant at the time, have proved very correct, aud the pros- peot at present is, that the full returns will go rather over than under our marks. The quantity of certain articles imported into this istrict in the first six months in each of the past three yes was as annexed:— Impouts into THE Port oF mse oe January | to July 1, 1845. 1847. f Samet) halt pipes 4,760 as frandy, qr, casks Goal, tons .
