INTERESTING FROM MEXICO. ANOTHER REVOLUTION. Dissolution of the Connection between Yucatan and the General Government, Further Correspondence between Generals Taylor and Santa Anna, By the last arrival at Now Orleans, we have advices Y | from Campeachy to the 9th ultimo, from which we learn there had been another outbreak in that city Jn an address dated the sth of December, Domingo Barret, yielding a reluctant acquiecence to the wishes o his fellow citizens, presented himself as their chief. “A glorious revolution” that day commenced, The | object of the outbreak is to sunder entirely all political | connection between Yucatan and the Government of | Mexico. A pronunciamento was also made by the garrison ¢f ‘Tabasco on the 19th of November. ‘This pronunciamento alleges that full representation had been made to the supreme government of the de | fenceless state of the Department of Tabasco. It alludes to the recent invasion of the Americans, and avers that the Mexican Government had disregarded their | prayers for aid. For these and numerous other considera | | tlons, they declare that the State of Tabasco disavows | the present Government of the Republic, and will regu- | late her internal administration upon a basis more liberal and more adequate to the circumstances of the existing war. | Tho declarations were approved of by acclamation. Senor Tracorn is named as the hoad of the Tabasco re- , | volution. Many names are attached to the pronuncia- | mento ‘The impression prevailed that Herrera would be elected President of Mexico at the opening of Congress, | and overtures of peace immediately made. Further correspondence has taken place between Gene- | vals ‘Taylor and Santa Anna. | Gen, Taylor’s letter concludes with ahope that the Mexican Congress will accept the offer of the United | States, and enter on negotiations for a termination of hos- | tilities, and a permanent peace. , Santa Anna’s reply is datea at San Luis Potosi. It is | courteously worded, and in conclusion, he hopes tho | Sovereign National Congress will act as shall be most | conducive to the interest of the Republic, but believes that neither Congress nor any Mexican will ever be able to listen to overtures of peace,“unless the national terri | tory is first evacuated by the American forces, and the | vessels of war withdrawn. Until this is done the Mexi can nation is determinod to defend its territory, at every hazard, inch by inch. Speaking ofthe duel that took place in New Orleans between Sentmanet and Ribaud, you say,“ they met, | and both advanced to within a few paces of each other, without pulling triggers, when Sentmanet was so appall- ed atthe firm bearing of Ribaud, that he lost his pre- sence of mind, fired at random, and run way without | waiting for his a versary’s fire.” Now ir, this ia oll wrong 'y word of it. Sentmanet was not only brave, but rashly so. The sequel of his life proves this assertion. May his spirit be uvenged on the coward Ampudia ! Ribaud is not only personally brave, but he hos a large soul; and were he here he would do justice to the memory of one who was his enemy—at least so far as | his daring courago was concerned.
