‘The General Van Ness Case. Cimcvrt Count, Wasurnaton, Dec. 1, 1846. Morning very cold and raw. Court re-assembled at 10 o'clock Mr. Kett called to the stand by counsel for the plain- tif, Examined by Mr. Brent.—My name is mas Kell ; testified as to certain stoves furnished by him, by order or request of Gen Van Ness to Mra. ; she refused to take the first stove | brought, because it was too amall, | told her a larger one would cost more mo- ney, and I was not willing unless gould pay the balance ; she told me it would be all right that he (Gen. ? ‘ould pay it.
