There was nothing of the slightest importance done to-day, in either branch of the Legislature. ‘The Senate met as usual The Senate agreed to change the hour of meeting from 11 A. M. to 10 A. M., on Monday next. Mr. Porter submitted a resolution instructing the Comptroller to report to the Senate the sum which would have beep incurred by calling a spe” cial meeting of the ate, to appoint a Judge for the 6th Circuit! Mr. Beers amended the resolution, by mo- ving that the cost of anextra meeting of the Senate, at Buffalo, in 1841, be included in the report of the Comp- troller. Then the Senate went into Executive Session. The Anti Rent question came up to-day in the House at anearly hour. Mr. Watson offered an amendment to the original resolution, which proposed to refer tne mat- ter to a committee of one from each Senate district. Watson p proposed to refer it to a committee of nin from each Senate district, with the exception of this dis- trict, which the amend: ents increases to two; a long debate occurred as usual of no manner of importance, and unworthy of notice. This Anti Rent question hi been prolonged and protracted ever since the com- mencement of the m. Each day at about one o’clock the House goes into committee upon the ques- tion of referring t tment of the troubles t mittee of some Kind or other, and this me: reference has been dischssed almost e y for four weeks. You will understand that the legitimate que tion of reference is daily dropped or unnoticed, members commence a harangue in committee upon ten thousand irrelevant matters in no way or manner co! nected with the questien so long fending ; it is impos: ble to opine with any degree of certainty as to the result; it is probable, however, that after several weeks more | are wasted in this debate the committee will be appoint. | ed, and the anti-rent difficulties adjusted by amicable compromise between landlord and tenant ; after a careful | consideration of events connected with these te: 1 hay. arrived at the conclusion that ultima.ely tie js | will assume eminent domain, or the mn will find it | expedient to accommodate the trouble @ manner fa- vorable to the requisitions ofthe people occupying the territory Among the petitions presented to the House to-day, were five by Mr. Bush, to reduce the roads between ‘Albany’ and Buffalo, and the Capital of the State.
