MONEY MARKET, Monday, Nov. 10—6 P. M. Quotations for stocks are steadily advancing, and the 1t% of fancies at the advance, continue large. Prices rrent to-day, compared with those ruling at the first ard on Seturday, show an advance on Long Island of per cent, Canton 1}, Harlem 1, Norwich & Worcester » Stonington 1, Erie Railroad }, Ohio Sixes }, Mohawk Reading, Morris Canal, Farmers’ Loan, and Penn lvania Fives, closed firm at Saturday's prices. The highest quotation for prime bills on London is ine per cent premium, and the ruling rates for the next eamer (16th instant) will not range over 8} a 8} per ut. The highest quotation for sterling exchange a jonth ago was 10 per cent premium, and the decline 8 taken place in the face of a geod demand for bills d large remittances. ‘This is favorable to an improve- ent in quotations for stocks, as it gives the banks an portunity to extend their discounts, without the lightest danger of losing any of their specie. Money is culation, and but for the difficulties likely to grow 1 Texas question and the anticipated contraction and pression in the money markets of Europe, in conse- ence of the deficient harvest, there would soon be a ry general speculation in every description of stocks ere must be a great change’in the stock market with-, the next sixty or ninety days, and those operators who jok on the darkest side of the picture, are selling shor time varying from thirty to ninety days, with the pectetion that within that time prices will fall several x cent below those now ruling. (The bills to renew the charters of the Farmers’ Bank Oswell, and the Bank of Brandon were lost on their rd reading in the Senate of Vermont, on Monday last, ie bill to recharter the Bank of Bellows Falls was los the House the same day, but afterwards reconsidered passed by a vote of 101 to 49, "oe \pal productions of several counties in this a 1840 and 1845. From the returns for 1845, re- ved, we should judge that they were very defective, Jd of very trifling importance in comparison with those 1840. We are, however, obliged to make use of them they are the most correct at command, and give some a of the increase and decrease in the productions of State. So far as returns have been received, the ulation of the State for 1845 will not be more than o or three hundred thousand more than in 1840. The icultural productions of the counties in the annexed le, in 1845, have been a greater per cent per head tha: 1840, showing a greater increase in the product® nin the population. ‘The increase in population in 0 counties for five years, was only about sixteen usaud. The attention of the farmers of these coun- , which comprise the best agricultural portions of State, appears to have been directed more to grazing, raising of wool, and the productions of the dairy, in heretofore, and the cultivation of wheat has in a at degree been abandoned. The farmers of this State not compete with the farmers of the Western States he cultivation of wheat, and they have devoted their d to the raising of cattle, their proximity to the East markets giving them, in this business, the advantage. je increase in the growth of wool in this State since has been avery large per cent.
