Market, Monpay. ————— Tue Mormons.—The Episcopalians, and the Methodists, and the Presbyterians, have not get Il the excitement ef schism to themselves. The ormon church is at present agitated by a very iolent controversy. Sidney Rigdon is the leader f the minority party, and he has just commenced it Pittsburgh, the publication of ‘‘ The Latter Day jaint’s Messenger”—the organ of his party—for very thing has got an “organ” now adays. We lave seen the first number and find it forcibly britten and pungent. The great subject of this ad is the doctrine of a plurality of wives. Rig- on opposes this system of polygamy, and justly as- ribes to it the licentiousness, iniquity and crime hich have been charged onthe Navuoo “‘saints.” ‘here can be little doubt that Sidney will prove a ‘midabie rival to “The Twelve,” and it is likely hat the better class of the Mormons will flock to is standard. Destruction sy Firz or Dr. Larpner’s Vaiua- Le Pui.osoraicaL Apraratus.—We have been ery much pained by the receipt of the intelli- ence that the whole ef Dr. Lardner’s valuable nd expensive apparatus has!been destroyed by fire, t Providence. The doctor delivered on Thure- jay evening the last of his lectures at the theatre In Providence, and about one o’clock next morn- ng 4 fire was discovered in the building. Before lhe alarm could be generally given, it was too late lo save the building or any thing which it contain- d. Dr. Lardner’s loss is about $15,000. We ust that he will at once return to this city and sume his Jectures here. The public will,we are ontideat, promptly stepforward and soon make up nis hoes. Theatricals, dic. Rico, the original Kthiepian negro, made his first ap- rance fer these seven years, at the Chesnut street ‘heatre, Philadelphia, last evening. Faswions uz Minuinery.—-A paragraph war opied into this paper some weeks since, from one our contemporaries, which conveyed an imputa- ion on the management of one of our fashionable millinery establishments, which we now find to be huite unfounded. The establishment is that of Madame Godfrey and daughter, 423 Broadway, nd 23 Division street. The paragraph implied hat they had sold a bonnet in their Division street tore for a much leas sum than wae asked for thr me article in their Broadway establishment his was not so. They have but one price at both, and the manaer in which their extensive Dusiness is conducted is in all respects bonoraable nd just. Irantan Orgna—Negociations Expep.—The ne- oeiutions have been concluded with the Italian ompauy, and they all appear at Niblo’s on Mon- Hay, the 18th of November, for a season of twenty- jeurnights, Signor Corbini is the manager of the heatre. Official, and no mistake. Axornea Great Foorrace.—It is finally setiled at Barlow, Greenhalgh, Gildersleeve and others ire to have another struggle before the two firs! entioned return to England. The race is to be for a purse of $1000, It is to eome off on the 12:h pt November, and promises to be quite as exciting the recent one. Canaptan Exgctions.—So far as heard from, here are ten eonservatives, five radicals, and two doubtfal members elected to Parliament. Mons. pe Ronponay.—This gentleman has ar- rived in this city, after a very successful tour of @ couple of months’ duration, during which period he has vieited some of the principal cities and towns of New England, and meta reception in eve- ry one of them, even beyond his hopes. in Bor- ton, particularly, Mons. de Korponay was met with a hearty welcome, and had extended to him that warm patronage that might be expected from the well known good taste of her refined citizens. His classes were attended by the leading and mos: distinguished of them; and had the unrivalled teacher of the Polka been enabled to prolong his isit, his engagements would have become propor tionately increased. New York, however, is desirous of availing her self of Mons. de Korponay’s instruction in fashion- able dancing; in this, as in other matters, her citizens are jointly emulous to be among the foremost im their patronage of all kinds of excellence, and the able artiste in question hav-: ing returned, with the intention of forming danc- ing classesfor the season as soon as suitable rooms ean be procured, we expect to see him resume his tuition here with the most encouraging pros- pects, and that he will find the citizens of New York second to none in good taste and liberal pa- tronage of his fashionable dancing classes. Tur: Bartig or Bunxer’s Hitt, &c.—This beautiful exhibition continues to draw great num- bers to view it at the Coliseum, Broadway. It is well worth inspection Personal Movements. ‘The Hon.
