The bust may be equally good, the stature equally commanaing, the neck equally awa: r the eye equally brilliant—but what avail all these charms unless to them is superadded the more entrancing beauty of a clear and transparent skin ? Ic is related of fair Rosamond, that the clearness of her complexion, eapecially about the throat, was such that the course of the “ruby wine” might be distinctly trared through the transparent windpipe! Now, Dr, Gonraud willnot undertake to convert every dark--kinned lady into a fair Rosamond, but he does most positively assert that a free use of his Italian Medicated Soap will produce the nearest approach to that “divine clearness” which it is possible for mere acience to prodice. Indeed its effects are so wondrous asto sepene almost magical—on its ap- plication, pimples, eruptions, freckle’, sunburns, &c , vanish like mist before the morningeun! Be particular. The vignette on the spurious bills is the New Jersey coat of arms; on the genuine, a view of cattle. From letters received from New Orleans we learn that acetton broker of that city, who has been shipping cot- ton rather extensively has made tracks for this part of the country, and may probably adopt the mode of settlement with his creditors that Koster, another speculator, found so comfortable and convenient, that ia, holding a meeting of hia creditors in some foreign country, and dictating his own terms. The movements inthe cotton market, and the great falling off in prices, must have placed many speculators in a very unenviable position. The news by ‘the next steamer is anticipated to be of a very unfavorable nature, and many have abandoned all hopes ot getting out of their difficulties throngh any improvemeat inthe mar" ket, Several brokers at the West have given notice that bills of the Plainfield and the New Hope and Del ware Bridge Bank notes will be no longer received, ‘The government of these institutions have recently sent large amounts of their bills through the West, and forced them into circulation at any sacrifice. An agent of the Plainfield Bank lately made his appearance at Malone, in this State, with a packege centaining ten thousand dollars in Plainfield bills. He tried to force them into cireula- tion by purchasing property in that neighborhood. Not succeeding inthat operation, he tried other methods to get the bills afloat, but failing in all his plans, he wos obliged to leave the package in the hands of some indi- vidual of the place to put out a8 opportunities may turn up. The patties who own the Plainfield Bank also own the Farmers’ Bank of Malone, and it was during one of the periodical visits of the financiers‘of both institutions to the represented locality of the latter bank, that the operations above alluded totook place The head quar- ters of the Farmers’ Bank of Malone is the bar room of a hotel in that village, and an agent of the bank generally s the place oneea month, to see if there are any more victims who are disposed to help along the circula tien of the Farmers’ or Plainfield Bank. We do not know whether the $10,000 package has been disposed of or not, but the people of that section of the country are too well acquainted with the movements of the financiers who govern these banks, to be made dupea of.
